We have entered a new geopolitical, commercial, and technological reality. In this context, a fascinating meeting will discuss the levers Africans already have at their disposal to change the rules of the game in their favor. By combining the strengths of sustainable development stakeholders, those of Web3 (decentralization, transparency, ownership) and AI (data analysis, automation, predictive intelligence), it is possible to create innovative solutions to change the rules of the game in favor of Africa, its peace, and its prosperity, and to scale up to achieve, as part of a just transition, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa. The solutions exist, the African champions exist (Africa Web3 Impact), now we must scale up!

The Dunia Bora Foundation and the Africa Blockchain Institute are organizing this hybrid meeting, which will be hosted by the Sèmè City Development Agency in Cotonou on October 10, 2025. The meeting will address a just environmental and digital transition for two key geopolitical and economic sectors.

First, the regeneration of biodiversity as a public good, supporting local livelihoods and developing a fair biodiversity economy. The biodiversity component is pilot-ready, with concrete initiatives in partnership with conservation agencies and local communities. This initiative showcases a functioning digital infrastructure and a performance-based financing approach aligned with the SDGs and Africa’s bioeconomy strategy.

Second, critical minerals, for which a paradigm-shifting African pilot project will be presented with the Global Blockchain Business Council, which would establish a robust traceability framework based on the United Nations’ call for a “global traceability system for transition minerals,” leveraging blockchain, distributed ledger technologies (DLT), and artificial intelligence for verifiable trust.

To change scale, the meeting will address the partnership to be developed between stakeholders (authorities, businesses, civil society) in sustainable development and just transition on the one hand and those in the digital revolution on the other. The aim is to establish a common strategy to support Web 3 for governance focused on peace and prosperity and the use of impactful AI to change the rules of the game in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
